Design Concept: The Connection Space

Problem

Living under the same roof was never easy but our client wanted the family of 5 to live together harmoniously and letting every of the family members stay connected even when they are all growing older and independent by themselves.

Our client’s needs are to have enough space for friends gathering over their cozy corner and spending quality time together bonding together. While their children are growing, they are expecting more hangouts and visits which also means they needed a bigger common area to accommodate their family and friends over.

The study room was hacked down so they can expand their dining area and connect it with the living room. This will allow guests to move comfortably and allow more activities to be conducted in the common area. With the expanded space, a 2.4m long dining table was intentionally chosen to allow more guests to sit together for meals. Our client had a flair for music and thus the piano was displayed as the centerpiece in the common area. It also allows friends to hang around for the bonding session.

A new scheme of dark, concrete, and wooden tone is inserted to give the house a modern industrial look throughout the home layout and decorations.
